LATEST NEWS FROM THE CHAIRMAN

AMENDED UPDATE FOR THE INDOORS AND OUTDOORS

CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT FOR SPRING 2021

Following the government guidelines for the roadmap, which we must all adhere to, we have sought further information from EIBA and Bowls England as to how we may continue to play bowls. We are still awaiting information from Bowls England following their meeting with Government advisors.

In the meantime we need to make decisions based on what information we have. We believe that due to the age of the vast majority of our members, vaccinations will have been carried out at least once.

We plan to re-open the club on Monday 19th April 2021, with restrictions in place regarding temperature checks, hand sanitising, jack and mats sanitising, and masks to be worn when not on the bowling surface. June will return to her normal duties (ie; 0830 to 1230 weekdays)

The Bar and Restaurant will not be available until May 17th.

INDOOR BOWLS

Clearly, we cannot continue the leagues etc, but we can allow roll-ups with no more that six players on a rink and only three rinks in play. All rinks must be booked in advance, either on line or via the office. Summer indoor bowls will be able to continue after June 21st (hopefully without restrictions)

Maurice Byron will contact all team leaders so that teams can be entered for all leagues to commence the indoor season as normal in late September or early October.

Members re-joining in August/September will need to pay the annual  fee of £65 prior to playing. Those members who paid £5 to retain a locker in 2020 will be exempt from locker charges for 2021/2 season.

OUTDOOR BOWLS

We anticipate that there will be restrictions on the method of play at least until June 21st. It is likely that rule of six will apply on alternate rinks.

The outdoor green will be available from 19th April for roll-ups. The first scheduled games commence from 23rd April.

Players need to join the club in advance, so we would like you to come to the club to do so. We will be in attendance at the club, (with social distancing), on Monday 12th April from 1900 to 2200hrs, and again on Wednesday 14th April from 0900 to 1200hrs. The joining fee will be £70 for outdoor season or £125 to include 2021/2 indoor season. Those members who paid £5 to retain a locker in 2020 will be exempt from locker charges for 2021/2

LADIES

Unfortunately, the Monday Mixed will not continue as a league this year, but existing fixtures can be played as friendlies in triples format.

The NorWest League will not go ahead at present, but some scheduled games may be played as friendlies.

The Seidal friendlies may well continue as scheduled.

Ladies Club friendlies and mixed friendlies are scheduled, and I believe plans are in hand to increase the number of ladies friendlies.

MEN

Following the telephone consultation, we have withdrawn from the 3 Rink League for this season with an option to re-apply for next year.

The Mid-Wilts Triples will continue, but with only 3 rinks playing and with no suppers (We have entered two teams.) First scheduled games on 29th April.

The Friday Triples are scheduled to continue, from 30th April.

The White Horse Leagues will continue as triples. (We have entered three teams) from 30th April.

If there are any changes to these plans, I will inform you.
