CLUB

We are the only Bowls Club in this area of Wiltshire that can offer bowling facilities throughout the full 12 months of the year.

Our indoor arena boasts a full size 6 rink carpet and caters for all levels of bowling from the very beginner to the most advanced International players.

We have adequate car parking, a bar & restaurant, toilets and changing rooms, and can cater for the less abled members of the community. We accept members aged from 8 to ‘rather old’, male and female, and of any physical ability.

To join our club you need only contact us by telephone or email and we will explain what is available for the level of bowling that you require. You may also just like to call in and see what is going on.

The club is a registered Limited Company, run by a board of directors whose responsibility is to ensure that we comply with the existing rules, and that the club is financially sound to deal with all the existing needs and to ensure that all future needs are catered for without charging excessive contributions from our members. We own our own facilities on land which is leased.

We were only able to set up this club due to help from The National Lottery, contributions from other clubs, and loans by our original members.

At the present time we have about 500 bowling members and 100 social members. In order to satisfy adequate bowling time for all members we have a Bowls Committee who deal with all aspects of competition.

Separate leagues are run on every day of the week to allow both male and female bowlers the opportunity to play against bowlers with similar experience, and it is possible to play in several of these leagues each week depending on your own availability time.

Beginners are catered for by organising open days, and coaching sessions, and on these occasions bowls and shoes will be provided.

We run separate sessions for improving bowlers and also for those less able due to physical impairment.

We also have an outdoor green which is used by some of our bowlers from mid April to September each year. This is known as lawn bowls, and requires extra skills which we are happy to coach you with.

Both facilities also give you the opportunity to play as a representative of the club in friendly matches against other clubs, or to play in County or National matches and competitions.

Whether you are a seasoned bowler with experience in another club, or someone who would simply like to have a go with a view of taking up bowling this is the ideal club for you. Just call in to the club at any time or contact the office to discuss your requirements. We will be more than happy to help you.
