RE-COMMENCING LEAGUE PLAY INDOORS 2021
Due to the diligence of Maurice BYRON, and with some help from the Office, we are happy to confirm that most leagues will commence from Friday 1st October.
Not all the previous teams have entered, so some leagues have less games to play than we would have hoped. If you were a member of a team and you find that for one reason or another you are not included, DO NOT DESPAIR: It will still be possible to form teams for the second half of the season. To be part of this you can approach former playing partners and re-form your team, or if this is not possible, you can enter your name and preferred league in the book provided outside the office and we will endeavour to form a team to include you.
The only league which appears to be full is the Harlequins League on Thursday afternoons. Most other leagues have only been scheduled for the first half of the season so that new teams can be included later and we will arrange a form of ‘play-off’ to decide the overall winner.
Naturally, some members are concerned about returning to play.
We want to return to as ‘near normal’ as we can without sacrificing the safety we were able to put in place earlier in this pandemic.
We will return to using the main entrance for entering AND leaving the building. We will advise that no more than six persons should be present in the changing rooms. This will entail members using their common sense, and showing consideration to fellow members.
Temperature checks and hand sanitising should be the sensible practice.
All games can be played in greys to minimise use of changing rooms.
Mats and jacks must be sanitised at the conclusion of the session, and mats hung on the provided racks to dry. Skips should ensure that a member of their team undertakes to comply.
Ventilation of the playing area is controlled (whether the heaters are on or off) by fans on the wall replacing the air, We intend to purchase further fans to assist the flow.
If we all do our best to comply, we can anticipate that those who feel unsafe can return to playing and therefore expand the number of teams in each league.
It is up to you to do your part in ensuring the future of this club. We have lost ground financially, therefore we all need to rebuild what we have enjoyed in the past.
