Since the delayed AGM in September last year, the club has continued to take all necessary precautions to try to make the club safe for playing members.
However, following the relaxation of restrictions announced by the Government, we have unfortunately seen an increase in members testing positive. The infection rate is much lower than the 1 in 16 which Wiltshire has recorded, so possibly our decision to continue to advise caution has been somewhat successful.
Games which were postponed during the season have mostly been replayed. However, there are still some outstanding which are unlikely to be re-arranged. We have decided that due to the circumstances, we will not be imposing the penalties which are outlined in our rules, This adversely effects our income at a time when our running costs will increase. We MUST ensure that we return to these rules next season.
Our membership now stands at 431 playing members, an increase of 95 since last year. This is of course well below our normal membership of about 579.
We have had two difficult years and we can only hope that everthing returns to as near normal as possible during 2022/23.
I want to thank the Directors, the playing committees and all members for their support during the last two years.
This is OUR club, so let’s pull together to keep everyone safe whilst enjoying these facilities.
Ron READ Chairman.
